What is Yoga?
Yoga is a form of spiritual discipline that has been around for thousands of years. the word yoga is derived from the sanskrit root, yuj, which means to join, yoke, or unite. The sole purpose of yoga is to unite the Mind, body, and spirit in a harmonious bind. yogis attempt this through a series of postures, movements, focused breaths, and meditation.

Styles of Yoga:
There are many different styles of yoga. It is important to remember that yoga is a journey that you take within yourself. Whether your practice requires a physically demanding yoga class, or a calm, meditative one, is completely up to you. Here at Catskill Mountain Springs, we offer a variety of yoga styles to serve a vast spectrum of skill levels and progression tracks.

Yin
Yin yoga Is a more relaxed style of yoga that focuses on meditation and increasing flexibility. the class will start out with gentle stretches and flows to warm the muscles. We will then target the connective tissue with slow focused movements and meditative postures. yin yoga teaches you to control your breath and sit in sensation as you stretch the hard to target, deep connective tissues.
Yin yoga is great for all training levels.

vinyasa
The term vinyasa refers to the alignment between one’s flow of breath and one’s flow of movement. poses will be held for a number of breaths while movements will flow in unison with your inhalations and exhalations. the steady cycle of inhales and exhales stimulates a calming affect while enhancing mental focus. Vinyasa yoga will help you increase strength and flexibility while sharpening your mental and physical awareness.
Vinyasa yoga is suitable for all training levels.
